Finnally Friday with A Friendly Bird!!

Hello all!!! Sorry I've missed posting the past couple of Fridays. Just really busy and I lost track of the days!!

Ribbon is one of my favorite embellishments to use and I use it often! You can do so many different things with ribbon to create a truly unique card or project.

Here are some ways you can use ribbon on your creations:

* Make ribbon flowers

* Use green ribbon as stems and leaves for flowers

* Make ribbon butterflies

* Use ribbon as a background through "punched windows"

* Use ribbon scraps to create a unique background for your creation

I'm sure there are many more ideas than those I've listed and I would love to hear how you use ribbon!

My idea was to create a "ribbon punched window", but I'm not sure it came out as well as I had envisioned it!!

I started with a strip of Almost Amethyst and used my Boho Blossoms punch for the flowers. Then I took scraps of ribbon from my stash, Old Olive striped and plain gg, White satin, White taffeta and Elegant Eggplant ric-rak. The placement of each of the ribbons was pretty much random and I just put the punched strip over them to see how it looked.

I cut the bird from chipboard with my Birds & Flowers die and covered with Afternoon Tea dsp. I highlighted the wing and beak with a piece of Elegant Eggplant and crystal rhinestone for the eye!

The distressed the edges of the Almost Amethyst strip before attaching. The bird is popped up with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the new set in the Occasions mini: Vintage Vogue.

Happy Stamping!!!!

Diva Inspiration Challenge #83

If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise.......

When I saw this picture for today's inspiration, first thing I thought about were the endless hours of singing Teddy Bears' Picnic with my daughter when she was younger. It was a favorite song of hers' and she even had a book of it too. So, every night at bedtime my daughter would request this book and we would sing this song as we made our way through the book - again and again... Definitely a precious memory that makes my heart smile. :)

For ev'ry bear that ever there was will gather there for certain, because today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

Vintage Birthday

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you are staying warm and dry wherever you are.  I have a card to share with you today.  It comes to us from...me!  ;)

My mom requested a birthday card for a co-worker.  The birthday cake was white with blue flowers so I used that for my color combo.  I made my own DSP using the Vintage Vogue set and Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery ink.  After I stamped all the flowers and vines, I sponged on a bit of Night of Navy ink.  The sentiment and frame is from the SAB set, Vintage Labels.  I sponged that piece also.  It's punched out with the Wide Oval punch and layered on a Lots of Tags die-cut.  I added a strip of Night of Navy punched with the Scallop Trim border punch.  A piece of Bashful Blue taffeta is the finishing touch.  I decorated the inside, too.  You can just see the edge of the Vintage Vogue border stamp.

The Vintage Labels stamp set and the Scallop Trim border punch were FREE for SAB!

Supplies(all SU!): Stamps- Vintage Vogue, Vintage Labels. Ink- Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery. Paper- Whisper White, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue. Accessories- Big Shot, Lots of Tags sizzlit, Wide Oval punch, Scalloped Trim border punch, Bashful Blue taffeta.

Until next week...
Happy stampin'!

Vintage Vogue

Today's project is a beautiful spring card from Brenda Taylor!

The card uses the rock -n- roll technique, it is a little difficult to see in the picture, due to the two shades of purple.   I started by inking the stamp in Lavender Lace and then rolled the edges into Eggplant Envy, this is repeated for all the flowers, then I stamped the leaves.

Vintage Vogue & Whimsical Words stamp set

Eggplant Envy, Lavender Lace & Whisper White card stock
Eggplant Envy, Lavender Lace & Old Olive ink pads
Ice circle rhinestone brads, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon and pop dots

Brenda - thank you so much for sharing your card.  With all the snow around here, it's nice to see some spring flowers!

diva sketch challenge

Well, I don't know you about, but I'm a little bit disappointed that the ground hog saw his shadow this week. If you were in Michigan you wouldn't have seen a shadow and been jumping for joy. Of course, if you lived in the real world you would know it is really a myth to get us through the second half of winter. oh well . . .

The sky is the limit with this week's sketch. Oh, the possibilities are endless don't you think? Take a look at what the sketch team did this week.

Finally Friday and Time to Tie One On!!!

Hello all!!! Did I grab your attention with that title??? This week our creation comes from Adriana Benitez and has she been creative!!!

Here's what she has to say about her card:

I was playing around with ribbon the weekend and was trying to come up with a "different" way to use it. I thought I'd use the wider ribbon and see if I could get it to look like a man's tie. It worked!

I think you could use this for a Father's Day card, Congrats (promotion at work?), Graduation card, etc. But here I wanted to use this Cottage Wall paper so I made a Newlywed card instead. (I was hoping the two rhinestone brads on the top right would resemble earrings....)

Oh - and my hubby deserves some kudos - he held the paper and ribbon in front of him to show me how he ties a tie since I had no clue :)

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry,
Orchid Opulence
Other/Tools: Clear Circle Rhinestone Brads, Ice Circle Rhinestone
Brads, Large Oval punch, Movers & Shapers Die, Old Olive 5/8" Satin
Ribbon, Big Shot

What an awesome idea Adriana!!! Need to try this out, but I have no man to help me tie it!! I'll figure it out!!

Happy Stamping!!!

May your layers be many!

Happy Wednesday!  Today's post is a birthday card created by me!  :)

The Bermuda Bay Scallop Trim square started out at 3 13/16".  Check out Gretchen's blog for lots of sizes to start with to make perfect frames!  The Crushed Curry square is rolled with the Cupcakes wheel in Versamark and then embossed with Iridescent Ice.  So sparkly!  :)  The image is from Birthday Bliss.   (I just happened to get this set for free for SAB!  I am so excited that we can choose from the big catalog this year!)  I stamped the image in Jet Black Stazon and colored it in with my blender pens and In Color markers.  I scribbled on the stamp case with the markers, and then I picked up the color with the blender pen.  You get a softer look than if you colored directly on the paper with the markers.  The card base is Crushed Curry, and it's layered with Melon Mambo and DSP.  The DSP is from the SAB paper pack, Welcome Neighbor.  A piece of Bermuda Bay polka dot ribbon is the finishing touch.  I love how it came together!

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Birthday Bliss.  Ink- Jet Black Stazon, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Dusty Durango, Versamark.  Paper-  Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Welcome Neighbor DSP.  Accessories-  Cupcakes Stampin' Around wheel, Iridescent Ice EP, blender pens, Scalloped Trim border punch, Scalloped Trim corner punch, Bermuda Bay polka dot grosgrain.

Until next week...
Happy stampin'!

Great Valentine's Day gift

Check out this adorable Valentine's Day project from Stephanie Gittins!

Valentine Coupon Book

I love this fun little coupon book. It's such an inexpensive but personal gift; you can create coupons for anyone in your life! I plan on making some for my little boys with coupons like "30 minutes of Nintendo", "Make cookies with Mom", or "Trip to McDonalds". To make the covers more sturdy, I cut pieces of the cardboard that comes with every package of Designer Series Paper, and then covered both sides with cute paper. The coupon pages are perforated to tear out easily. To bind the book, I lined up all the pages and held them with a large binder clip, and then cut holes with my Crop-a-Dile.

Stamps: With All My Heart, Boho Friend Wheel (on inside pages)
Inks: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Markers. Close to Cocoa Classic Pad. Real Red cartridge.
Paper: Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. Very Vanilla & Pretty in Pink Cardstock.
Accessories: Cutter Kit, Crop-a-dile, Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Red Corduroy Buttons, Paper Piercing tool, Stampin' Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Around handle.

Steph - I love it too! What a fun idea! Be sure to let us know how your Stamp Camp goes; I think the ladies will love this :)
